I realize this is an old thread but this seems wrong to me for the problem the OP was having. Leverage didn't seem to be the problem, getting enough pull on the cable seemed like the issue.
Putting the cable far away from the pedal and closer in on the caliper would have given more pull on the...
Need proper tools to do that right but might have to make do with wider axle and let it fly. For where we drive it in the race, I still don't think it is the kart that is the problem. I think our driver just wasn't prepared to drive, plain and simple. Nerves and all. kid that drove it in final...
Had our race this weekend. Didn't fare as well as we had hoped.
Our first driver did not complete the first lap before she wrecked herself. No injuries, just scared her. I think she was just nervous and overthinking it. Not comfortable behind the wheel. We were able to put it back together on...
Have to carry around the charging system. That charging system got us through the final marathon heat Saturday. Battery draw was only 20 amps once we switched our speed controller to the slower setting to get through it. Solar was kicking out more than the battery.
I'll post our results in my...
I found this to be much easier:

put my 3.14 ratio sprocket set in there, 15.5 diameter rear tire, and 2000 rpm motor (24 amp) to get my theoretical top speed of 29.38.
Kart weighs in at 440# without driver and our ME0909 is...
A heavier kart doesn't help. I tried to do a bunch of math when I inherited my school project but really never could make heads or tails out of those power curve charts.
I've gone down the "try it and see what happens" road to get speed and endurance.
My kart is not in this level of building but I found that if I leave the rotor to float while keeping it attached to the axle with a simple keyway, it keep unwanted rubbing and friction to a minimum.
what type of speed controller are you using?? Different speed controller require different inputs. Find out what your speed controller requires and get the appropriate accelerator.
Speed controller may be programable depending on what you have
I disconnected the cables that went from the positive to the negative between the batteries and used some simple jumper wires to connect all three positives and all three negatives. The batteries were wired up parallel.
That was not my problem as I hade done this before in the shed where we...
Found out what a lithium battery smells like just before the smokeshow begins this weekend.
Been having trouble keeping battery packs balanced and tried to balance them. I have done this several times before but always inside and under cover. We were outside and when I had hooked up battery...
Our big change this year is going to 36v setup with batteries though. With the limits on Wh, we are trying lithium batteries in place of SLA to have similar useable capacity.
running three 16ah deep cycle batteries in parallel with three small motorcycle starting batteries with 2.5ah and...
