#530 chain is going in. For a reference, this is the size difference between #420 and #530: If it's good enough for 1000cc sports bikes then it's gotta be good enough for a 440cc Duromax. These are #50 chain industrial sprockets but they fit perfect. Heavy as all hell though. At least they're...

#40 chain will fit pitch wise, but doesn't it have tons of side to side slack as it's wider than #420? Also apparently this D.I.D. gold chain has a higher tensile strength (4930lbs) than the #40H I could find (just above 4000lbs on average). Do you know where to find strong 40H chain?

Been having big issues with chain tension. The spring loaded tensioner seems to actually exacerbate the problem rather than help, so I've ditched it (still holding on to it in case it becomes useful later). I thought I may have had my chain set too tight, but that doesn't seem to be the issue...

Just working out the kinks before paint. Also got this set of tires (square setup rather than staggered). 19x7-8 all the way around. This allows me to rotate my tires and also gives a more neutral handling/eliminate understeer. Haven't tried them out yet but these tires will be better on the...

Some sort of high density plastic. Got it off Amazon. As for the spring tension I believe it will be enough, but if not i have multiple holes to allow for different size/length/strength springs. Gonna try this one first because I had it on hand.

Been doing some test riding before I finally paint it to make sure there's no welding left to do. After throwing a chain I decided to add a storage bin to the side to bring extra chain/masterlinks/tools with me in case of a breakdown. But the biggest addition is a spring loaded adjustable chain...

Duromax 440 Leaks Fuel From Behind Carb

I have the swingarm set to be slightly tilted back when I'm not in it so it levels out when I sit in it. The axle sit just slightly backwards of the crank on the engine so the engine moves basically as much as the axle does. Rear suspension travel is about 5", so you can imagine how much the...

Duromax 440 Leaks Fuel From Behind Carb

Huh, never knew that. What adjustment should I be looking for then? Should the bowl be level when I flip it upside down? EDIT: Looking at it now I still don't see how it's adjustable. The entire carb float is plastic. Most adjustable carb floats have a piece of metal you can bend. I think if I...

Duromax 440 Leaks Fuel From Behind Carb

I don't believe these carbs have a float level adjustment anyway. But it's in the stock position.

Duromax 440 Leaks Fuel From Behind Carb

Stock carb. It got stuck once but when it did it dumped gas out of the intake, not from the back. I also took it apart and cleaned it to make sure it wasn't sticking.

Duromax 440 Leaks Fuel From Behind Carb

Does this happen on all swingarm-mounted engine karts? Is this normal/ok?

Duromax 440 Leaks Fuel From Behind Carb

Hi, I recently just got my project kart running but I have been having some concerns with how gas is leaking from behind the carb where the "carb insulator block" (black plastic piece behind the carb) is. I just replaced all the gaskets with new gaskets, including the float bowl o-ring. I...

Cheap and dirty weight measurement using 4 analog bathroom scales. I've been looking to figure out the weight of this buggy for a while. My goal was about 400 pounds max, any less is a bonus. The final weight (all fluids included) is...drumroll... 430 pounds. And a 40% front, 60% rear weight...

    swing arm front suspension ideas?

As ezcome-ezgo suggested, your best bet would be to do something similar to a VW beetle front end - that is "swing arms" (or trailing arms) on each side. The old Honda FL250 had a system similar to this but even simpler. See below: This system is often called a j-arm. This same system can also...

Just tried it around 4° or 5°. Already tracks straight now with no side to side wobble, but it doesn't really "self-align" when I let go of the wheel. I think 6° or 7° is going to be the sweet spot. I haven't even touched the toe setting yet.

Yeah I probably only have about 2° of caster if that. I can go up to around 7° or 8° I think.

Struggling to decide how to do an alignment on this thing. At higher speeds it has a tendency to wander side to side. I'm unsure if this is due me not having enough caster angle (which is easily adjustable on this buggy) or an alignment issue. As it stands I'm currently toed in (which a lot of...

I think we are close to 100% competition besides paint. I welded on a brush guard for the footwell and added a pedal stop for the gas pedal to prevent over-extension of the throttle linkage (and to slow things down for the girlfriend lol).

Well if you manage to find a smaller tooth driver sprocket you can also drop the size of the axle sprocket. I know there's 9T sprockets for 5/8" jackshafts.
