The wife let me get a few more doll hairs today... And this 1982 ezgo marathon came home with me.
$100. Has an engine (in pieces) but everything else seems to work just great.
All 4 shocks are new. 3 new tires 4th is almost new.
No rips or tears in the seat.
Came with a core charge battery (bonus!!).
Rear diff works good. Steering linkage all pretty solid.

It's most likely getting a Honda 13hp.

Anyone have any advise for my first golf cart?
I'm aiming for 30 - 40 mph.
Locking the rear diff a good idea for this thing?

Purdy! If you’re driving on street please don’t lock the diff.

Best advice: Don’t! Way too much work. Send it to me, l’ll save your marriage, your blood pressure, and you’ll be much happier!
l’ll take care of it AND send ya pics! Win/win
My wifes pretty good about projects along as they get finished! Money is tight for me but I manage to find cool cheap stuff a lot. :) I'll post pics when it's done!

Any idea if these guys came with a reverse diff? It looks like you'd have to stop the motor and run it in reverse from what I'm seeing
Run the engine in a reverse direction??
I don't see how a 4 stroke can do that.
How could it pull air/ fuel mixture thur the exhaust???

Why do you want to lock the rear diff by the way? The only way to do that is a Lincoln locker. No way back from that. The axles and drums are the weak links there. Bearings for axles fail regularly also.

My golf cart (club car DS) runs about 18 mph on stock motor with Governor bypassed. Those old carts with a two stroke motor would run the motor in the opposite direction for reverse.

My cart is lifted with blocks up front, stock soft spring, and can make toy a little nervous going around corners. Stiffer springs help with that, but the ride quality sucks.

I just picked up a golf cart project, and my idea is to run a four-wheeler engine/transmission, because aside from it being a four or five speed, it would also have reverse.
