Found this old shopping cart from grocery outlet bargain market at the creek near my house and decided to turn it into a Go kart
It only took 3 months and about $370 to complete
I tried to only use parts i had around the garage but ended up having to buy a few things

I have now upgraded the engine to a 212 predator and the clutch to a comet 30 removed the split rear axle and installed a solid stainless steel live axle and made the seat open to get to gas tank

It pops wheelies now

It looks nice, I am excited to see you go on a trail adventure using this kart.

Thanks. Yes sir, we built the frame. Built one a while back for my kid, and it generated lots of interest when my customers would stop by. I figured I'd put a few together and see what happens. Worst case scenario, me and my guys will have a blast on them. Wanted something different, like a mini sand rail look. Next one on the table will have a stationary engine with a ladder bar type rear suspension.

That's sweet, refreshing to see a unique powerplant, staged predators/clones get boring. Must have mad torque.

Ive been into the 2 strokes lately. Got the Lawn boy duraforce bike rippin, with a proper clutch.
The jackshaft works great, never seen one like it. One adjustment for both chains.

it does have a lot of torque...
It took me a long time to find the right clutch for it because it was burning up 2 clutches a month until i called Noram and got in touch with a tech/ sales person that pointed me towards a $340 clutch that has a very low 740 RPM engagement and can also withstand the torque the engine has

By the way That's a nice bike you have... Is the clutch connected to the Jack shaft !? That's different from what i usually see.... Very cool and smart set up.... I might have to steel that idea for my next mini bike build

Interesting, cool they were able to make you a custom clutch. Id say well worth it, 2 clutches per month adds up quick.

Thanks, the driven sprocket and clutch are on the same 3/4 keyed shaft, and the pivot arm has two 1 3/8" bearings for said shaft.
The arm pivots and floats free on the lower shaft. Compact and built from what I had sitting around, run whatcha brung.
The lawnboy has a 25mm crankshaft so the jackshaft is required.

Look forward to the next build!

I started with an old Yerf dog 3203 that'd been sitting for over 15yrs. Completely stripped it down to frame. The front end got new A arms, spindles, and tie rods. The front tires were changed out to a thinner, heavy cleated tire. Brand New heavy duty shocks all around. The seat was fabricated from scratch with 3/4" plywood and waterproof material. New seatbelts and sliders. The rear got a new axle with heavy duty 4X lugs and a 60T sprocket. 20x10x8 SUNF rear tires. Running a 9T sprocket on the jackshaft. The old Tecumseh 6.5 was swapped out with a Tillotson 212 (electric start) along with a new 30 series torque converter. Lights, radio, and battery box to be installed later.

After years of on and off work, im proud to announce that my early 1960's Go Kart 800 project is finally coming to a close. Built by Art Ingels and Duffy Livingstone out of the Go Kart Manufacturing Co. in Azusa, CA, i have hardly found anything else like it on the internet. Working on this was pure joy, and it taught me a lot about working on small engines and Go Karts alike. it was obtained by my uncle in roughly the late 1970's, it sat in a musty basement for at least 35 years. During the selling of his property around 5 years ago, i came into posession of it, and worked on it on and off with a couple of my friends for most of the summer after i got it. it then sat for a while, having been resprayed red, and fitted with a new carburator for the McCullouch MC-49 2 stroke engine that came with it (what we think is the origonal engine, cant tell for sure). i finally had the urge to finish what i left off, and 'completed' the project about a week ago, driving it for the first time in decades. overall i have spent countless amounts of time and money to get this thing to run/drive once again, and i hope to one day restore it professinally to its former glory.

What? No snow plow on it? It’s cool, I’m just kidding.
Just got a throttle cable on it and went for a rip. Needs a bigger main jet than 135 but
oh my she hauls. Pulls wheelies from stop to 20+ mph , has the torque to push snow.
Should really boogie after some carb work.

And very smooth, no vibration in the handles. And this motor has the balance shaft deleted.

With other big block mini bikes I have built, your hands go numb after several minutes of riding.

I really think the gx270 is an underrated powerplant for toys.
