Previously on Tee trailer, we laid out the backbone of the trailer and glued the hitch to the end. I’m expecting the axle to arrive soon so l found some time to lay out the business end of this thing so l could get some measurements and see where to go from here. I have some cool catwalk material i salvaged from another project. That will form the deck as well as ramps. As you can see in the pic the catwalk is 5ft lengths, which after being cut in half will make the deck section and a ramp. I have 2 sections, so plenty for left and right sides. The deck is 30 inches long, it works out perfectly.

Next on tee trailer: axle mounting and finalizing and welding up the frame and deck.
Stay tuned!

Yea, but how many episodes until you have to cut it apart and redo it?
Seriously? I had one similar years ago and it worked well. Remember the payload is 9 ft long and about 850 lbs. Not much! Sheesh dude! Give me a little credit!
Once buggy 2.0 is complete l’ll probably sell it all as a package deal. It’s all about the building anyway. I can’t be a collector like some around here….

On this episode of Tee trailer, things start coming together and it is beginning to look like something.

First up we start by crossing the tee, or in other words making the support for the deck and axle.

with the clamps and junk removed and axle set in place:
Notice the axle is in a "tunnel" in order to reduce deck height by 4 inches.

View from ground level. Holes cut for tail lights.

The catwalk material for the deck looks like this.
The stubs sticking out are for the fender to mount to.

I don't weld very good when standing on my head, so I hung the frame so I could weld underneath.

Stay tuned! we will return after these words from our sponsors!

Well aparaently we have no sponsors! So continuing:
a wise man once told me “triangulation is the key to strenght”. Maybe it was a wise a**, l don’t remember. Anyway triangle is the strongest geometric form.

you may notice there are no springs. After consulting with the local fab shop and trailer supply shop and axle manufacturer, it was determined they would be unnecesary, and difficult to find the proper spring rate. (1100 lbs GVWR) AND springs would add 4 inches to deck height.

my $60 craigslist tires and wheels installed.

first deck section.

that concludes this episode of tee trailer.
next up fenders and more deck.
now our viewer participation feature:
l want your opinion of this fender. It took 5 minutes and needs a little fine tuning and paint.
is it too redneck or does it look ok?
