Hi. I didn't know if this is considered kart like or a mower so I figured I would post here. Below are pictures of my racing lawnmower. It has a 31ci 500cc briggs and stratton, which is about to become a 540cc crate motor. It has a 5 speed mower gearbox. It has a 1 inch kart rear end, disc brakes, a race kart style front end, kart rims, hubs, and kart style steering modified for my application. It does north of 40 flat out and will hit it on my biggest track which is the 1/5th mile track that AKA has. The other mower is my dads, and is pretty much the same set up as mine, but he has a modded 8hp briggs flathead (crane cam, custom billet rod, adjustable carb, ported out, billet flywheel, a has enough compression that it needs to run on 91 octane) that can and will give much bigger motors a run for their money. That one is geared to do just shy of 60 flat out.

I like the sound of a 540cc motor!

There are go karts made out of beer coolers, so I think what you have more than qualifies. Are there rules for where your exhaust exits?

Sorry about the pictures. The rules are that it can go anywhere as long as its not a hater pipe.

After a year with a 540 briggs, I'm going to try to build a 540 Kawasaki into a 40ci stroker. The fastest guy in our club has a 60ci Kohler v twin that makes over 100 hp.

Looks Kool! :thumbsup:

Do you guys turn?
...or mainly just go straight? (like drag racing)

COG would seem to be a concern @ 40+ MPH :ack2:

Your butt, probably the heaviest thing on the kart, is higher than the rear wheels
...doesn't that cause problems? especially on turns?

* Hater pipe?
...please explain :cheers2:

CG is always an issue on racing mowers. It's what makes them so fun!

Center of Gravity is a concern to a point, but being 40 inches wide helps. The chassis is set up for dirt track so it is meant to go left. It also has enough power to break it loose on tracks where that would be the biggest issue, and that. It is a peerless 700 gearbox with an oil seal and gear oil in it. I bought it already race prepped but it needs a vent so I will be working on that. Hater pipe basically means an exhaust that just dumps up. Purs have to have an exhaust that is under the mower so we dont choke on fumes.
